Entrance & Completion Requirements


Step 1

Registration

All students must be able to read, speak, write, and comprehend English. No interpreters are allowed per CDL regulations.

Must obtain and provide proof of each before registering:

  • Must be 18 years old

  • Valid Commercial Learner Permit (must be obtained 14 days before the start of training)

  • Complete a DOT Physical (medical card must be on hand during training at all times)

  • Complete Pre-Employment Drug Screening. Results must be sent to Corridor CDL Training before training. Email results to Corridor CDL Training.

  • Register with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse. Click the following link to register on the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse site.


Step 2

Complete the online Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) Theory Course


Step 3

Complete behind-the-wheel driving instruction

  • Up to one week for Class B CDL certification

  • Up to three weeks for Class A CDL certification


Step 4

The training provider submits ELDT training completion to FMCSA prior to testing.

Complete CDL testing with an examiner:

  • Pre-Trip Inspection Test

  • Skills Test

  • Road Test


Step 5

Once all exams are passed, the commercial license may be obtained at DMV.
